Sometimes a perfume is just too god to have any criticism about it. I think that Aedes de Venustas comes close to that status. It is a lady’s perfume with elegance and romance about it. I suppose the fact that it is made by a famous niche perfume house has something to do with its quality. Too often people bandy the word class to all and sundry but this is a case when a perfume can be said to have plenty of class.

The Brand

L’Artisan Parfumeur is a niche specialist perfume house that is of French origin. It was established in the nineteen seventies to provide high end perfume products to the discerning lady. Their products speak for themselves and I believe that rather than relying on the brand to market them, the house has effectively created a product of such high quality that the brand backing would be superfluous.

The Fragrance

If we are talking about understated complexity then Aedes de Venustas is a prime example. The scent list looks quite challenging but the perfume itself blends well and creates a wonderful aroma. It starts off with some orange oil, pink pepper and cardamom. These are very oriental flavors and the perfume has sought to exploit the exotic nature of that part of the world.  We then move on to incense essential oil, black pepper, rose, iris and cedar wood.  At the middle range are resinoid, patchouli, coffee, opoponax, benzoin and treemoss. The closing hints are everlasting flower, white musk and vanilla. As you can see a very complex menu created a beautiful perfume.

The Packaging

The packaging is mysterious because it has some grey and dark outer shades which form into a red interior. I would not normally go for such a color combination but I think it works because it fits in with the overall theme of mystery of the perfume.  The designer has picked an unusual package for an unusual perfume.

General Customer Feedback

The buyers were unanimous bout this one. They felt that it was a godsend and it satisfied all their dreams about perfume. This just goes to show that they have really put the work onto this one and it has paid off. If the ones who are usually looking for a fault had to agree that this was a triumph among perfumes. Like all new perfumes there were some issues with availability but I think these embedded with time and everyone was happy.
