A lady who wears Mariah Carey immediately takes on the role of a sophisticated well to do person. This is a perfume that has perfected the art of marketing by placing itself in a very elite market. This market is not only for the very rich but even ordinary people can aspire to it and eventually join the club. The people who use Mariah Carey talk of a certain je ne sais quoi which gives it an air of sophistication that they cannot find among other fragrances.

It used to have an image problem where people thought it was mainly worn by wealthy women of a certain age. However with the revamping of the packages and the increase in the varieties available it became clear that anyone can wear Mariah Carey as long as they chose the right product and brand. When I was thinking of writing a review about YSL Opium, I just managed to catch a glimpse of different people’s perspectives on the perfume. It was interesting to note that one lady actually felt that the perfume reminded her of her first relationship. She felt that even thought the relationship eventually fell on its knees the perfume still reminded her of the happier times she had with her lover. Other people associated the perfume with their childhood or the first present that they received as a teenager from a loved relative. It would appear that far from making us have specific memories because of the ingredients within the perfume, the fragrance simply makes a statement that is so bold that we are forced to associate whatever we were doing at the time with the scent for a long time to come in the future.

YSL is such a perfume. It has a strong almost masculine scent that stays with the user for quite some time so there is no need to go overboard with the usage. It is also capable of suggesting sweet things but generally it is not a perfume you would necessarily associate with weak fragrances. It is a statement perfume and those who use it are normally loyal customers who will sing its praises to the heavens. That is a sign of a great perfume. If people can remember the perfume even after years of doing other things and experiencing other fragrances, then you are well on your way to creating a durable brand.

The other element I find alluring about YSL is that it seems to ooze luxury even in the most unlikely circumstances. From the packaging to the advertising to the smell of the perfume itself, you feel as if you are buying your way into another world of better things. This might sound about wishy washy but true marketing always aims to add value to people’s lives.  Some of us do not wish to admit it but it is in human nature to want to be in a better place than you are currently in. Perfumes sometimes play a role in helping you get there without too much expense.

If there was a perfume that gave rise to the belief that perfumes are an individual taste, it is shalimar perfume. Created in honour of the middle eastern heroines of the taj mal, this great fragrance contains the overriding smells of vanilla. Now vanilla is a unique scent because it is associated with foods as well as other fashion accessories.

Some of  you may feel that it is abit too much to expect you to spell like some piece of confectionery. You may have a point in terms of looking at the perfume at the glance. However shalimar is much more than just another vanilla scented fragrance. It is a statement of history and the future.

There have been some comments from reviewers to the effect that the perfume can be overpowering but at the same time some people are saying that it is too weak. This makes me think that the question as to whether the perfume is powerful or not is purely down to the individual tastes of the people who use the perfume and can not be limited  to a standard view.

I admit that the strong smell of the perfume can be irritating to sensitive people. However there is a nother complaint to the effect that the perfume does not last long in terms of effects. It seems ironic that as people bemoan the lack of punch in the perfume, others are derriding it for is punch.

I must admit that I do like the look of the perfume. For some people the look of the perfume does not matter but for me it is part of the whole package of things that make a fragrance stand out. After all you first look at the package before you even have the chance to try out the fragrance.

Would I recommend the fragrance. Yes I would because I think that it provides a good toliet accessory as well as a fashion statement to be able to wear such a stylish perfume. The prices also seem to be reasonable so we can say that that is the one way of getting all of you interested. The versions I have seen have been mainly for the ladies but I am not sure whether they have a gentlemen’s line.

Mitsouko Perfume

Full of eastern promise this is a top notch perfume for the discerning customer. It comes in a wonderful glass bottle with the brand label clearly visible but it is the scent that makes or breaks the perfume. The husky notes of cinnamon combine with the gentle breeze of peaches to form a perfume that can be both masculine and feminine. I know that some of you will not like the ambiguity but it is all part of our metro sexual world. Nothing is quite defined in strict terms.

The perfume is packaged in very simple terms but the delivery far exceeds the promise. Perfume is always about romance. Without romance a perfume is just a set of chemicals combined to create a pleasant smell. To me that is a sterile understanding of perfume. Perfume is there to love you and be loved. It is supposed to be poetic and sweet. Mitsouko does this and much more besides. It is a combination of soft and hard, gently and forceful, direct and suggestive, seductive and elusive. In other words this is a wonderful addition to your perfume cabinet.

What I particularly like is the lack of celebrities in site. I have to admit that I am not entirely convinced by perfumes that are marketed by celebrities who may not even use them. Mitsouko is not in that category. It is a perfume that stands on its own two feet and makes a statement about what it wants and what it offers.

The product scent can be accessed via various peripheral items such as shampoo, soap, makeup and other bathroom accessories. To me this perfume is not so much about brand as it is about the high quality of the product. I would therefore urge you to try this perfume and see what it can do for you.
